The theme for our movie poster will be largely inspired by the ''Adulthood'' movie poster. With the main characters in the middle of the screen and the background shows the area they live in or something - which indicates the sort of lives they all have. The Title of the movie being bold and in the middle of the screen close to the characters. Our movie poster will not have as many characters in as ''Adulthood'' did and also wont have any visual effects in the background, our pictures will be natural and the only things that will be edited in will be the text. As the poster above also shows we will have at least one main prop on our poster. The Adulthood poster has a baseball bat as the only prop, seen as it has a lot of meaning within the movie. Our Prop will be a basketball because the ball has a lot of meaning to the story seen as because of basketball the main character ''Marcus'' is moving away to play basketball in America, but the ball will be on the floor showing that his future isn't as much in his hands as he would like. The positioning of the character on the poster will have meaning to it, showing how they now feel towards each other and how the characters relationships have changed towards each other. This film is the continuation of Kidulthood so if audiences have already seen Kidulthood then they will have an idea of what is to happen in Adulthood.
When you first look at this poster all you see is a group of individuals that all look like they have been or are up to no good but if you look beyond all of that there is the likelihood that you can gain a different perspective of it. This poster should make the audience think why the characters are showing this persona and what has influenced the choices they make in the film. This film is a follow up from Kidulthood so if people have seen this film before then they are more likely have a better understanding of this poster as they will know what relations the characters have with each other as well as what to expect in the film.
Shank is another movie poster that we were inspired by and decided to use to help us with the designing of our film poster. This poster shows the main characters in the film along with a dog running away from or running towards what seems like a fight. This poster gives the indication that something serious has happened because of the fact that the main characters are running and there is a mass crowd in the background. All of this gives a slight idea to the audience of what is happening but the audience need to see the film to look in more depth at the purpose of the poster and how it helps to sell the film. This is inspirational for our film poster because our intention is to include the three main characters and take a photograph of them maybe at a park or against a wall and try to showcase Lewis'(the main character) conflict and show how his girlfriend and his best friend have an influence on all of this.
What ideas of both movie posters are relevant to I.O.U?
The target audience for both of these films would be teenagers. This is even more relevant to our film because we have the same target audience and we are trying to use the ideas that these movies showcase in our film. The concept of friendships, loyalty as well as the personas that are portrayed from these two movie posters are relevant to I.O.U because they give the film its purpose and identity.
